I have an HP Deskjet 3522. Black ink works sporadically and when it does get used, it is very faint and streaky. When printing an alignment page, it will only use blue and red inks. When printing a print quality report, it will use all the colors but the black ink has vertical streaks. When printing a print test page, black ink has horizontal streaks. All drivers are updated, have tried cleaning the print heads, cartridges are genuine and the vents are clean. There are no error messages at all. HP print doctor offered no solutions and online virtual chat was useless. Please help.

Hi, I had the same problem. Screen showed that black ink needed to be re-installed again and it was very frustrating. It was a brand new cartridge. I followed a lot of the suggestions and then decided to change the color cartridge which was low but not too low. In any event it worked. I installed a new color cartridge and left the black in the printer and it started to work perfectly, in fact I was thinking about removing my review with 1 star. I am hoping that this approach somehow helps you.

If you have followed the steps from the document HP ENVY 5540, DeskJet 5570 Printers - Printer Prints Blank Page or Does Not Print Black, Color Ink and still have issues, it could be a hardware failure.

 

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

 I have the same problem; I have followed all the suggestions on the troubleshooting.  I even went to you-tube the last time and disassembled the tray to clean it  I can't continue to spends hours and money on this same problem.  Yes, my printer is old (5 years) but the one in my office from another company is older and the ink is cheaper.  I think that HP should do better with this ink cartridge problem.   I am buying a new printer, laser this time.  HP Photosmart 7520.

I have the same problem. I have HP ink tank wireless 415. Operating system IOS. Colour prints ok, but not black. Checked the black tank and added some ink, but still nothing.

Sorry - I have done exactly the same as you including trying 2 new HP original black 62xl, Also spent more than 2 hours. Is it possible that it could be some software issue??
