@Rotsap58,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

  • What is the exact model for your printer?
  • What is the operating system you are using?
  • What are the troubleshooting steps you have performed?

Look forward to hearing from you and you have a great day!

Take care.

Cheers!

Printer - HP Envy 5660

Printer - Regulatory Model Number: SDGOB-1401-01

Operating System: Windows 10 Home

Operating System: Version: 1803

Operating System: Installed on 5/17/2018

Operating System: Build 17134.950

Steps taken so far:

First I ran through the print and scan doctor which says they have fixed the printer queue problem (even though nothing prints) and then when it asks to run a test print it didn't print either.

Then I found these steps for a root-level software/driver re-installation and walked through them stop by step.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Still did not print and got the same error message.

@Rotsap58, thank you for the response.

  • How far is the printer located from the WiFi router?
  • Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network.
  • This printer supports only 2.4GHz network.

Check for the IP address of the printer and restart the spooler service on your PC. Refer to step 1 mentioned in this document.

Also, check for any pending windows update on the PC.

Let me know how this goes.

Thanks for your quick reply;

The printer is about 30' from the router. It seems to have a strong wifi signal.

Both the computer(s) are on the "PBC_002DEBDD_2.4G"

I can print if I send it via email attachment to the @hpeprint.com address.

Did you check the IP address of the printer and restart the spooler service on the PC?

  1. Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
  2. Type the IP address at the top of your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  3. If you get any security notification, click on show details/advanced and 'proceed to this website'.
  4. Go to tools and print a test page.
  5. If you are able to print a test page, proceed to the next step.

Install the printer using Windows built-in driver

Refer to this document to know how.
