Hello,

I am trying to do the same, but unfortunately have zero luck even adding the device to my account.

I purchased a printer from someone, which has ink in it, however I am unable to print.

After finding your reply here, I followed the steps you gave to add it to my account/deactivate it from someone else's.

When I punch in the serial number I get a message back saying it cannot identify my printer by the serial number; please add a device number. Tried what I thought was the device number but I guess not? Nothing seems to work.

I also can't seem to locate the private messages icon. I'll keep digging around for that.

Thanks,

-t

[I moved your post from the original thread here because it needs to be addressed separately.]

Please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model? What cartridges are currently in the printer?  What exactly are any error messages you see on the printer or computer screen?

Note, the printer will not work with HP Instant Ink cartridges installed unless the printer has an active Instant Ink account.

Edit - your Private Messaging is not currently enabled due your limited history in the forum.  If an HP Support agent gets involved they will have your account enabled for Private messaging.
