Thanks for the response KrazyToad.  My HP 8720 Office Jet is out of warranty so I am unable to contact support.  This is my only means of hp support.   I don't feel that it is fair for me to spend $$$ to purchase new HP cartridges just to activate my new printer head.   Is there an inexpensive sample set of new cartridges or is there some work around?   I understand that HP want to make money from the ink at extortionate prices, but they are priced more than their weight in gold.  Please help me.
