have just bought a new printer and it comes with a nine month trial included for instant ink, but I already have an account with instant ink. Can I still use a trial or do I have to cancel my account sign up again?

That's a great offer. You do not need to cancel your existing account to get the nine-month free offer.
Make sure you save the offer you received on your new printer.
When you replace and register your new printer with your current instant ink account, make sure to select HP+ Services to get the nine-month free Ink.
