Common problems for INSTANT INK, HP+ PLANS: INK AND TONER

I was charged a high amount for the little I print, and still have a couple of cartridges. I could not keep paying when it made no sense for me, but we all should be able to use up the ink we PAID for! There are so many complaints about this to HP and so many people vowing never to buy anything HP again. Wouldn't it be better to change this stupid policy?

So many people mis-understand the instant ink program. Like a cellphone, you may a monthly fee to use the phone for a certain number of minutes, with instant ink you paying for the ability to print X number of pages.. When you stop paying, you can no longer use the phone. The difference is that that HP supplies ink to enable you to print those pages and with a cellphone you pay for charging the phone out of your pocket, phone companies do not supply electricity. The program is set this way because too many people would simply sign up, get cartridges and cancel. $6 payment to get 30-50 dollars worth of ink. HP has to protect itself from this type of abuse. Note that these are personal observations and not an official statement from HP as I do not work for nor speak for HP.

@HanUrb, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Instant Ink!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

HP Instant Ink is designed to automatically deliver ink cartridges to subscribers based on their printing needs. Unfortunately, as per the program's policy, the ink cartridges received through the service are part of the subscription and must be used during active subscription periods. If you decide to cancel the subscription, the cartridges provided cannot be used outside of the service plan.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
