HP Recommended

I'm in the market for a new laptop- my current one, the second laptop I've ever had, is on its last leg. So I've been doing some research on which one I should buy, and I'm hearing very mixed things about the brand HP; plenty of articles say it's one of the best brands, but when I look at the user reviews I get the feeling that HP isn't a good brand at all? One guy wrote "First off, it's an HP. That alone should be the first warning sign. HP uses the worst and cheapest components available, so you're looking right off at a machine which is essentially disposable, the Bic lighter of computers."

But... all the 'Top Ten Laptop Brand' lists act like HP is golden, and there are also plenty of positive reviews on them. So... I'm confused.

Please help! I'm not a tech person at all, and I'd like the tech community's opinion on whether or not HP is actually a good brand. Thanks so much!!! ❤️
