Hello,

It has been over a month already and still no luck getting my printer to connect to HP Instant Ink.

I did find that it might have something to do with my IP being Spectrum but still cant find a fix for the issue. I'm at the point where I'm considering just purchasing another printer and not having to deal with this issue but I do like my current printer and before I do away with it I would like to try and see if it cant be fixed.

I have tried going into the printer settings and changing them to the 8-8-8-8 and 8-8-4-4, ive checked proxy settings and have been unsuccessful.

This seems to be a common issue and its absurd that a resolution or update has not been developed.

Great now after restoring printer to factory default settings I can no longer print at all. Before resetting I would just need to clear the server error on the printer and it wouldn’t print. Now it’s saying it cannot print at all so I have a paper weight now.

HP needs to rectify this or provide me with a new printer

I was able to connect the printer to my mobile phone via Hotspot and it was able to connect to the server in this manner. Could someone please get back to me from HP on how this might be able to be resolved?

Hi @DAVIDERIC05, I'd be happy to assist you.

Do you have a wireless router?

Connecting the printer to a mobile hotspot is not recommended. It may not work.

  • Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network.
  • This printer supports only 2.4GHz network. So, the PC should be on the 2.4GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

Restart the network devices

  1. Turn off the Router, Printer, and the computer/ mobile devices.
  2. Wait for 60 seconds.
  3. Turn on the Router first and wait for all the lights to stabilize.
  4. Turn on the printer and allow it to configure itself.
  5. Turn on the computer/ mobile devices.

Try connecting to the network and check if the issue persists. If you get any error, let me know in your next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Error message persist. From doing some research I believe the problem may be with HP servers communicating with spectrum. That's the fix I need to find or be provided with.

Hello Community,

I have been unsuccessful in restoring the connection to the HP Instant Ink server. I have made all attempts to resolve this matter with both HP tech support and also with my ISP (Spectrum) who states the problems lies within the HP servers.

My last resort was to purchase an ink cartridge that was not part of the instant ink program and to my surprise this actually worked.

I'm very disappointed with this seeing as Ink cartridges continue to be extremely expensive in comparison to the printer itself.

  1. Printer Cost: $60
  2. Black Small Ink Cartridge: $20
  3. Color Ink Cartridge: $35

HP has essentially forced me to either purchase expensive Ink cartridges OR purchase a completely different printer because if your using Instant Ink cartridges and are unable to connect to web services then your printer is simply a large bulky paper weight taking up real estate on your desk.

The least HP could do is provide me with some Ink Cartridges that are not part of the instant ink program to compensate for all the time spent with tech support in trying to resolve this matter.
