Upgraded from 3830 to 5255 w/Instant Ink and used up the "starter ink" less that 100 prints made 20% coverage.
63 is the Cart. No signed up for Instant. Discovered same Cart No as the 3830 tried using the remaining ink...new 5255 doesn't except old HP63 Cartridges. Purchased new HP 63 cartilages they don't work because they are not "part" of Instant Ink and I am stilling waiting on the "welcome instant ink kit" Is there a solution aside from returning the HP Officejet5255 which is now locked up waiting for Instant Ink....and the call center is a 9 to 5 Mon to Friday support center no week end or evening. Very disappointing spent x on new printer, triple xxx on ink which does not work in system and stuck waiting for Instant ink.

Hi! @Orangejet,
Are you using HP genuine ink cartridges?
If you are using ink started ink cartridges along with the regular ink cartridges the printer might not function. As the printer is enrolled in the instant ink program.
Also, you need to make sure you replace all the cartridges with regular ink cartridges to print.
If you still have issues, Please try the steps recommended below.
Check the ink levels on your printer and replace the low, empty or faulty ink cartridges.
Clean the electrical contacts on the ink cartridges.
Make sure the ink cartridges are inserted correctly
Refer this article to further troubleshoot ink cartridge issues with the printer. Click Here

Part Two yes have been purchasing guanine hp Ink Cartridges "63" with zero success...vendor told me on my third trip that HP has a chip in new carriages that sense it is a HP made product. Old HP made ink Carts don't have it so you have to make sure you are not buying old inventory from other "shops". Only get from HP......still no ink from Instant Ink day 12 now since sign up still no working new printer...sad and upsetting.
