after closing account instant ink, you cannot use the delivered cartridges anymore?

This is correct.

 

When you cancel HP Instant Ink, the ink cartridges stop working at the end of the billing cycle and must be returned to HP.

 

Once canceling HP Instant Ink you should replace the ink cartridges with standard retail cartridges from any nearby store:
