Wasting HP Instant Ink Cartridges

I have recently installed a new black ink cartridge through Instant Ink. Initially it wouldn't print. I have wasted a number of pages trying to fix the problem. It now prints out - but the Quality isn't brilliant with some words still smeared. I've now wasted a lot of my monthly allowance - can I claim that back from Instant Ink?
