Hi @wwhs19601,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

I am afraid, you cannot use the instant ink cartridges on another printer, as the Instant ink cartridges are unique and designed for particular models.

However, you can return the unused cartridges back to HP and once you enroll/add your new printer to the instant ink account you would receive a new set of cartridges.

To enroll, Click here for more details

To replace add or add your printer to your account Click here

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

the problem is that the "used" printer that I want to add as a "new" instant ink account previously had been enrolled in instant ink. the cartridges in it are not allowed to be used in a printer that is not currently a customer. and of course those cartridges are also empty. in order to enroll in instant ink I would have to print out two sheets that provide information for signing up to instant ink. that means I would have to purchase ($55-65) worth of store ink in order to sign up for instant ink. HP has really made it difficult to renew the previous enrollment. I also tried to just renew the contract but needed the previous user name and password (which I can't find). they were not helpful on the chat either trying to renew using my email and phone number. IT IS ONLY INK> not rocket science. IF I could find two empty non instant ink cartridges I could get around it by telling it to print and even though the pages would be blank the HP printer would wirelessly provide that information through web services on the display panel and then I could sign up. IT will not show that info until I attempt to print out that needed into. HP will NOT send me cartridges that I am willing to pay for without that info. After all that I am not certain the printer is working. I can talk to it though my laptop where it sends me the message about this printer not being enrolled. The scanner worked and I was able to print out that scan on another HP printer I have set up. So I can connect it to the network and I can send the scan directly to the laptop but I cant purchase ink from HP. also I can send the scan directly to the laptop directly from the touch screen on the printer. Also filling the cartridges with bottle ink will not override instant ink non-enrollment. Chat was willing to credit me with more pages for the one printer I have enrolled. But I cant use that many pages. This is a true story.

I found an HP tech who was super. He took over my computer and was able to over ride the places that I couldnt. He altered the plan for this printer and spent 45 minutes with me. That printer works great now. even got me free ink because he took so long. the HP instant ink software simply does not work. and they dont care.
