Hi @Sutty123,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your Outlook program is receiving emails but not sending them from your Optus email account, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve the issue:
Check Outgoing Server Settings: Ensure that your outgoing server settings are correctly configured for Optus. The SMTP settings are particularly important for sending emails. Typically, for Optus, the settings should be:
- SMTP server: smtp.optusnet.com.au
- SMTP port: 465 (SSL) or 587 (TLS)
- Authentication required: Yes (your Optus email username and password)
Check Email Account Password: If you recently changed your email password, make sure you update it in Outlook as well. Outlook will need the correct password to authenticate with Optus's servers for sending email.
Review Antivirus and Firewall Settings: Sometimes, antivirus programs or firewalls can interfere with email sending capabilities. Make sure that Outlook is allowed through your firewall and that your antivirus isn’t blocking it.
Test Account Settings: Outlook typically has a feature to test account settings which sends a test email to verify that all settings are correct and functioning. This can help pinpoint if there is a specific issue with sending emails.
Restart Outlook and Computer: Sometimes, a simple restart of the application or your computer can resolve temporary glitches that may be affecting email sending.
Update Outlook: Ensure that your Outlook is up to date, as updates often fix bugs and improve performance, which could resolve sending issues.
Check with Optus: There could be an issue with your account or with Optus's servers that could be affecting your ability to send emails. Checking with Optus support can help rule out or identify service issues.
ISP Restrictions: Some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) may block the use of third-party SMTP servers on standard ports as a spam prevention measure. You might need to use specific SMTP settings as suggested by Optus.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
