Hi
I have a HP Officejet Pro 8024 All-in-one.
It is second hand.
The person I bought it from was a subscriber to HP Instant Ink, however when he sold me the printer, he cancelled membership with Instant ink.
I am in the process of signing up to instant ink.
I have got as far as giving my bank details.
I then receive a message saying
Just one last step. We need to connect your printer to HP Instant Ink.
I know that my internet is all connected in the correct way.
But when I try to open HP ePrint on the printer I find I cannot access it because I get a message stating
Cartridge cannot be used until enrolled in HP Instant Ink
Thus unable to print anything.
Please help!!

Hi @Bazza708,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like the printer is still expecting to be enrolled in HP Instant Ink, and until that process is completed, it's restricting the use of the cartridges. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.
-
Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. Turn the printer on and see if the issue persists.
-
Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. You can usually find this information on the HP website. If updates are available, follow the instructions provided to update the firmware.
-
Manually Disable Cartridge Protection: Some HP printers have a feature called "cartridge protection" which may prevent the use of non-original cartridges. Try disabling this feature manually. Go to the printer's control panel, navigate to "Settings" or "Tools," and look for an option related to cartridge protection. Disable it if possible.
-
Reset the Printer: You may also try resetting the printer to its default settings. Refer to the printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset. Keep in mind that this will erase any custom settings you may have configured on the printer.
-
Check Cartridge Status: Ensure that the cartridges installed in the printer are genuine HP Instant Ink cartridges. If they are, try removing and reseating them. If the cartridges are not recognized, it may be necessary to replace them with compatible Instant Ink cartridges.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
