my printer keeps telling me to re-install cartridge. Replaced and re-installed but still not working

I have had a recurring message which is preventing me using my printer. It keeps telling me to re-install cartridge  and try again. I have re-installed the ink cartridge and also replaced it and cleaned it but still not working. Any help would be brilliant.
