I have a crappy internet where I can't get the printer to stay on. Apparently it is not sending the needs ink info to HP and I am almost out of black in and out of color. It is attached to my comp by usb

@pucksalterego, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

The printer must be connected to the internet in order to communicate with HP Servers. If the printer is not connected to the internet, HP will not get to know the status of the printer/ink level.

Instant ink service will not work on USB connection.
