Hi @LucyT1946,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer is not printing and it requires enrollment in HP Instant Ink before it will print, here are some steps and considerations to help resolve the issue:

1. Confirm Printer Setup:

Enrollment Requirement: Some HP printers are designed to work with HP Instant Ink, which is a subscription service that automatically sends you new ink cartridges before you run out. These printers may require initial enrollment or activation with HP Instant Ink for the printer to function properly.

Check Instant Ink Status: Log in to your HP Instant Ink account online or through the HP Smart app to verify if your printer is enrolled and active. Ensure that your subscription plan is active and that there are no issues with your account.

2. Troubleshoot Connection:

Check Connectivity: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your network and that it has internet access. Some HP Instant Ink functionalities require the printer to be connected to the internet.

Restart Printer: Power cycle your printer by turning it off, waiting for about 30 seconds, and then turning it back on. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.

3. Update Firmware:

  • Firmware Update: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Updating the printer's firmware can sometimes resolve issues related to connectivity and functionality.

4. Check for Error Messages:

Printer Display: Check the printer's control panel for any error messages or notifications that may indicate the cause of the issue.

HP Smart App: Use the HP Smart app on your mobile device or computer to check if there are any error messages or notifications related to your printer or HP Instant Ink.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
