I tried to start an instant ink plan but keep getting "Server Error Try Again Soon" when filling in my printer claimcode, can someone help with this?

I contacted customer service, and they suggested a semi/full reset of my printer. For anyone else experiencing this problem:

normally there is a "back" (go to the previous window) button on the printer. This one is sometimes hidden (no lights), if you are at the home screen. Click this one 4 times (it is on the left side of this panel). You will see something like "support". Click on it and press down until you see reset options. Click that one and go down a few times until you see semi/full reset. Click on it, it will turn itself off, wait 30 seconds, and turn it back on. Now you can configure everything again, but this time, you can actually subscribe to instant ink.

If you have trouble configuring because of the error "Incompatible cartridges, you must have instant ink blablabla", without ANY return or next button, VERY USER FRIENDLY. Connect to pc with usb, add it in HP Smart. Then go to "Printer settings", and "Advanced Settings". This will bring you to the website you can configure your printer in. Go to "Network", "Wireless (802.11)Press Enter to expand/collapse" and Wireless setup wizard. Here you can remotely choose a wireless network for your printer, do that.

Remove the usb cable and add the printer again in hp smart, but this time through wifi. Go to advanced settings again like above. Now activate web services by going to "Web Services" in the bar above in the configuration website. Just follow the instructions.

Now if you try to subscribe to an Instant Ink plan, you don't have to put in the code (at least I didn't), because the printer is shown automatically. The annoying popup ("You need instant ink blablabla") should be gone and you will be able to print.

Sorry if some steps are unnecessary but this is the way I fixed it. It is comical that every thread about this problem is solved "privately" or not at all.

@Koen9, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are not able to enroll the printer in Instant Ink. Make sure the printer is connected to the internet and web services are ON.

For assistance, refer to - Enrolling in HP Instant Ink

If you are having issues with the claim code, follow the steps from this document - Having Trouble Claiming Your Printer?
