Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everyone,

I'm using HP RGS on a Windows workstation for remote access. The workstation is equiped with a NVIDIA Quardo P4000 GPU - however, RGS keeps using the weak onboard GPU. Windows remote desktop uses the Quardo. Is there a way of forcing RGS into using the higher performing GPU?

Thanks,

Oliver

We had similar issues with a racked workstation (Dell r3930) using the onboard gpu instead of the nvidia p4000, we set the nVidia as default in the bios and once logged in set the nVidia EDID to force output to 2 screens and connections to rgs now work (previously you just got a black screen when connecting).  We are about to start testing with apps so may find we have a similar issue.

Have you tried the above?

How are you seeing the onboard card being used instead of the nVidia?

Thanks, I'll try that. The workstations are in a server rack off-site, so I'll change Bios the next time I'm there.

The graphic perfomance was really weak, so I checked GPU usage in the Windows task manager. There you can also see which GPU module is used. While all the CAD and Simulation software use the NVIDIA GPU, RGS takes the onboard GPU to the limit. Perfomance improved when I started to use the CPU to detect image changes. However, we have better use for the CPU 😉

Thanks! That solved the problem.
