This thing is absolutely painful to use. I have already returned this laptop once and had it replaced for other issues. If this does not get resloved soon it can go back to the store and stay there.

So follow my advice: Disable the touch pad in Settings. I have had no trouble since I did that and simply relied on the mouse. You can always re-enable it if you want to use the touch pad - and are willing to suffer the problem.

???????? Are you kidding me?  This is a brand new computer! Who do you work for?

I share your frustration. I am not the source of it.

And, no, I do not work for Hp or Synaptics or anybody but myself.

Yes, the same thing happened to my brand new Spectre. The problem is a bug in Synaptics touch pad driver. I simply found a workaround until you can get a driver that fixes the problem.
