we have hp compact mini towers donated to our computers for kids project with bare drives. we need to upgrade the bios before we can install ubuntu 18.04 to giveaway for free to under privileged kids.

Hi:

 

Yes there is.

 

I have zipped up and attached the latest BIOS update DOS flash file folder, below.

 

Get a USB flash drive.  Format it with the FAT 32 file system.

 

Unzip the folder I attached and within that folder are the DOS flash files.

 

Copy just the file contents of the DOS flash folder to the USB flash drive.

 

Restart the PC, and tap the F10 key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen.

 

Select the File tab>Flash system ROM command, and select the USB flash drive.

 

The PC should now 'see' the DOS BIOS update files on the flash drive.

 

Follow the on screen instructions to update the BIOS.
