hp envy x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey! So I just got this HP Envy x360 and when I'm playing audio there is a loud popping sound as the audio starts. It appears to only happen while using headphones. I played audio out of the regular speakers and it didn't pop. As the popping is very unpleasant for me I would like to know if there is a way to fix it.

Do I need to reinstall a driver, if so how?

Should I just buy some different headphones?

Thanks.

Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.

I understand that you are getting a popping sound only when you use the headphones, is that right?

Not to worry, I will be glad to assist you.

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps on your own?

May I know the exact product number of your computer? Click here. Please do not share the serial number of your computer.

Have you tried to update all the drivers using HP Support Assistant?

Any new computer will have a lot of updates to be installed.

This process might take 7-10 days based on the speed of the internet.

Recommend you make sure all the Windows updates are installed on your computer.

Run HP Support Assistant to make sure all the drivers are updated including BIOS and chipset.

Refer to this HP Article for assistance in using HPSA.

If the issue persists after all the updates, try a different headphone.

If you still the popping sound.

Open device manager by doing a right-click on the Windows button.

Expand "sound, video and game controllers" and uninstall the audio driver.

Once you have uninstalled the audio driver, run HPSA to update the audio driver again.

Let me know if this helped.
