ThinkStation
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

We are using HP RGS 7.3.3 on a new Lenovo ThinkStation. It works fine when a monitor is attached, but fails when there is not monitor attached, showing only a black screen when connected, we would like to run this station without a widescreen.

There is a post here that says to change some settings, with no indication of where the settings are located

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/HP-ZCentral-Remote-Boost/HP-RGS-Black-Screen/m-p/7067055

Please advise on how to get this working when the monitor is not attached.

Adding to that, I'm not sure this will work for the RGS version you are using.

A lot has changed from RGS 7.3 and it is recommended that users get the latest updates.

You can check the latest RGS (now called Remote Boost) version here: http://hp.com/zcentral

Hi David,

You can edit the property to force EDID on headless in your rgsenderconfig file.

It's located in the same install folder as your RGS sender.

Just edit the file, uncomment the property and set its value to 1:

Rgsender.Compatibility.Displays.ForceEdidOnHeadless=1

Then, restart your rgsender service for it to pick up the new information.

Another thing that some users do regarding headless senders is to use a small EDID emulator device that you can plug into your graphics card to emulate a monitor connected.

If that's something you'd be interested in, make sure you purchase one that supports all the resolutions you need.

Lizzy,

A new name explains why I couldn't find any updates for the software.

I will check it out, thank you.

You may want to ask someone to add a note that there is a new version on this page
