Zbook G8 - 14 Inches
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

After much digging, I'd appreciate if someone can point out how to find (or turn on) the Thunderbolt Security Level option under my BIOS. I own a HP Zbook G8 (2021) and it just not there.

For reference, I own an EGPU unit which won't work until hot-plugged under Windows environment and it seems related to the SL1 configuration under BIOS (which I can't find under my BIOS).

The option even exist under this document but my BIOS miss the option:

Any help would be appreciated.

I had a similar problem with an HP ZBook Studio G8 and an HP Thunderbolt Dock G2. I had to get the firmware updated on the dock before the dock would be detected by the laptop thunderbolt controller. This required a manual applying of the firmware, the more automated update package would crash trying to apply the firmware.

  • In PowerShell Admin mode ( I guess it works even with CMD prompt)
  • Cd C:\swsetup\sp95855\Firmware\Intel
  • Executed ThunderboltUpdateerDevice.exe (this actually failed and I proceeded to the next update)
  • Disconnected Hook dock
  • Restarted 1050 G1
  • Reconnected Hook
  • Cd C:\swsetup\sp95855\Firmware\Cypress\Dependency
  • Executed System_Update.bat
  • I then executed Cd C:\swsetup\sp95855\HPFirmwareInstaller.exe
  • Then downloaded and ran the full automated update tool to finish.
