HP Envy 4507 - wireless connection. Yesterday afternoon all printing attempts from laptop unsuccessful (get an immediate error message). Printer copies fine. Today tried printing from PC - same result. Ran HP print and scan doctor - Says everything is perfect and prints a test page perfectly. Would appreciate any ideas to solve the problem. Thanks Crates1

@crates1 There are times when excessive static causes such issues, performing a hard reset as you have with the unplugging of the printer and the router, fixes the issue,

@crates1 We'll need to know exactly what the error message was about, could you take a screenshot or tell us what that error is? Also, in the mean time since the copies work and yet the printer doesn't print over a wireless connection, here's a few steps that should help your concern:
Press "Windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window.
Type "services.msc" to get Services - Go to "Print spooler" - Right-click and "Stop" the service.
Now again open "Run" - Type "spool" and ok - Go to PRINTERS folder - delete everything in that folder.
Go to services again - Start the print spooler.
Now check for issue resolution.
If the issue persists, unplug the USB cable from the printer (if present).
Go to Control panel - Programs and feature - Select all the HP printer entries and uninstall them.
Now go to Control panel - Devices and printer - Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
Again, go to the Run window, type - "c:/programdata" - Go to the Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
Restart your computer.
Then, use this link to access the HP website, find the drivers compatible with your windows and install it: click here

Riddle_Decipher - Thanks for your response. For good order the message was just 'error - unable to print document ****etc'. Had tried the old 'turn it off - turn it back on' by closing down laptop and unplugging printer. But after posting went one step further by repeating this and also closing down router. After re-starting all three it is now working perfectly. Appreciate if there was a 'glitch' this could have performed a re-set - but still a mystery to me why it occurred and why HP print and scan doctor managed to send a test page without a problem. But won't be losing sleep over it!
