7612 Printer thinks the printheads are missing but it's a software problem I can't resolve

HP Spectre
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My 7612 printer thinks there is a problem with the printheads so it won't print.  I have checked for software updates & it is reporting up to date (via HP Smart center on my computer).  I have removed everything from the print que & been able to get to the screen where I can select clean the printheads.  When I do that, the printed page is beautiful and there is obviously nothing wrong with the printing.  I am thinking it is a software problem.  I have disconnected all the power & even let it sit overnight unplugged but can't get it to reset.  Once the message appears, I can't move out of the error screen.  It is such a good printer but I don't know how to resolve this problem.  Thank you for your help!

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the "Printhead" error. 

 

Please try these steps - HP Printers - Printhead Errors

 

Try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

 

If the issue still persists, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

 

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
