Hi all,

My  8500A printer has faithfully printed thousands of pages but suddenly started printing blank pages. It still scans with no issue.

Now, every time the printer is turned on it goes on an endless loop of "Cleaning Printhead" followed by "Aligning printheads" and then round again.  I have tried all the solutions offered on the various posts, and spent money on new printheads and cartridges - to no avail.

Bizarely, if I do a hard reset each time, and send a page to be printed (in best B&W only) before the printer prints the alignment page, the page actually prints with no issues .... even though the printer control panel still shows the message "Aligning printheads" -- but then any further print requests get stuck "waiting for the printer to become available". In the meantime, the alignment page also prints with no errors or issues.

I have read all the posts and especially the thorough one from john67 here:

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Inkjet-Printing/Printhead-alignment-tries-and-fails-every-time-I-print... but nothing has worked. It seems even john67 found a solution for his problem only by chance - not from HP Support - which required replacing sensors!

ANY SUGGESTIONS?
