HP Officejet Pro 8600
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am repeatedly getting an error message on my 8600 printer that the magenta cartridge is "missing or damaged." I have tried multiple cartridges, and get the same message. I have been through all these steps on a previous post multiple times, and nothing has worked.

1) Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector

2) Remove all of your ink cartridges from the printer and close the door

3) Remove the power cord from the back of the printer (Do no press the power button)

4) Clean the electrical contacts, refer to step 5 from this document.

5) Plug the power cord back into the printer

6) Wait for the printer to turn on completely, then install the ink cartridges

I attempted to contact someone at HP, and kept getting sent here instead. Please help!

Hi @Amnsa

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

If you have tried the steps mentioned in this document and tried different magenta ink cartridge but the issue persists, this could be an issue with the printhead of the printer.

If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit HP Store to check the available printers.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
