8710 Printer not showing ink levels

HP 8710
macOS 10.15 Catalina

I have an 8710 printer running with Mac and both printer and printer utility not showing ink levels. Thanks for any insights -

@gibsontexas, Welcome to HP Support Community!

 

I see that you do not see ink levels on the printer or on the HP Utility App on your computer. Let us try to isolate the issue-

 

If the printer is enrolled in HP Instant Ink Program the ink levels can be accessed only on your account page.

 

If not, refer to the document HP Printers - How to Check Ink or Toner Levels which has different options to check ink levels.

8710 Printer not showing ink levels

Thanks for the reply. No - not a member of the Instant ink program and have tried the steps you pointed me to with no luck. The ink levels used to come up no issue on both the Mac Printer Utility and the printer itself, but suddenly nothing. I have tried rebooting all to no avail. Welcome any further thoughts.

Follow the steps below-

 

Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

 

Restart the printer and the computer. Now, try accessing the ink data.
