OfficeJet Pro 7740

Hoping for some information on the 7740 that I can't seem to confirm in the online manual.

I am looking for a printer to hold A4 in one tray and A3 in the other. I would like to be able to have the A4 as the default tray, but be able to select a A3 print from the second tray directly from the PC without having to go to the printer, change paper in the trays etc.

This then goes to the question what happens when a given tray runs out of paper. My preference is for the document not to print, rather than the printer just defaulting to the other paper tray.

Appreciate any feedback anyone is able to give. Thanks,

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Support Community.

These 2 resources will be useful:

HP Officejet Pro 7740 : Configure input trays to print automatically on macOS 10 12 Sierra

HP Officejet Pro 7740/8740 Configure Print Settings for Tray 2 and Duplex Printing

Hope that helps!

I've created an A3 pdf which will not print A3 size on my office jet pro 7740. I can print to tray 2 with A3 paper in it, but the document prints A4 size. All of my settings are correct as per the video instructions. What is wrong?

Hi @WTYRRELL

Under PDF print User interface, can you select "Page Setup" and ensure the paper size is A3?

Do that and it should print in A3.

Hope that helps!

Yes, of course I've done that. Makes no difference. The paper used is A3, but the print area still A4. I've wasted so much ink and paper you can't imagine.

Hi,

Which PDF software are you using?

Have you tried another PDF apps?

Thanks.
