Well for a couple years now I continue to get a message of "access denied" when I select print color from the toolbox. I am the administrator of my own computer and I found that it thinks I am not the admin. I don't know where to go to lift this denial message and am ready to throw out this HP printer! Anyone else have this problem?

This seems to be an issue with the computer's security policies and the best thing to do, is to check if you get any errors on the printer while using it as a stand alone copier, If it does, this could be a printer hardware issue, if it doesn't happen while using the copier, it's merely a windows issue and here's what you need to start with:

 

Clear the Printer Spooler Files and Enable the Spooler Service:

1.Hold down the Windows Logo key on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box, type Services.msc 

2. Double-click Printer Spooler in the Services list.

3. Click on the Stop button and click OK.

4. Hold down the Windows Logo key on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box, type"%WINDIR%\system32\spool\printers, then delete all files in this folder.

5. Go back to services by holding down the Windows Logo key on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box, type Services.msc again.

6. Double-click Printer Spooler in the Services list.

Click on the Start button. In the Startup Type list, make sure that Automatic is selected and click OK.

 

If the issue persists, you may try creating a new user account and install the drivers in the new user account and check: Click here for steps.

 

Keep me posted, as I (Or a trusted colleague) shall follow-up on this case to ensure the concern has been addressed, 

And your device is up and running again, only in case you don't get back to us, first!

I will keep your info for future referenced is this happens again. I'm not sure what I did but got it fixed! This was before I received your fix email so thank you anyway. Can't believe I fixed after a couple of years!!!

It seemed to work for awhile...then I found that MY printer has a built-in 1-8 hour disconnect on wireless...which would require a printer, modem, router reboot. It would again put an access denied in the printer spool.

All of the printer test would run, but all of the documents would say "sent to printer" and access denied in the bottom.

Since it is near a switch I have hook up, I ran and ethernet cable seems to have solved the problem so far.
