HP B210
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Hi

After installing a brand new Black Ink cartridge (HP original) and successfully printed a dozen or so business letters, the black ink has suddenly stopped printing.

I have:  printed status report | printed quality report | cleaned the printhead | algned the printer.

Alas, none of these steps have fixed the problem and I fear it has caused another one.

Now the header in the document is printing too far up the page - this has only happened since the cleaning/alignment process. All preferences are set to A4 as is the paper in the tray. Again, the black ink is not printing. I have cleaned the vent to remove any excess adhesive to no avail.

I also replaced the yellow and magenta as they were low and printed a 'test page'. Only the windows logo (quad colour square) printed successfully!

This lil baby has worked beautifully for so long...please can you offer some suggestions at your earliest opportunity.

Thanks in advance.

L

The troubleshooting steps in the document here may help resolve black not printing on your Photosmart b210 printer.  Go through the steps in order until the issue is resolved.

The issue with the header printing too high on the page may be caused by the paper not feeding properly. Cleaning the rollers as shown in step three of the document here may help resolve the issue.

Hi Bob,

Many thanks for the suggestions...whilst helpful didn't provide either solution unfortunately.

Any other ideas?

Did you go through all the steps including soaking the printhead, then running a few cleaning cycles?   If the standard troubleshooting did not resolve black not printing I would suggest removing the black cartridge.  Turn it over and examine the area around the ink port.  There are four orange plastic spots, left over from the protective cap.  Make sure these are flush with the cartridge body, if not carefully trim them flush.  If the plastic nubs protrude they can prevent the cartridge from seating properly.  Before replacing the cartridge in the printer dribble a few (maybe four) drops of hot water into the ink port in the printer and two drops into the ink port on the cartridge then snap the cartridge back in position.

Hi Bob,

Alas, all to no avail...looks like I'm up for a new printer! Here's hoping the next one gives me 5+ good years.

I appreciate your suggestions, thanks again.

All the best.

Kind regards
