HP Officejet Pro 6830
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I replaced the black ink cartridge on m y Officejet Pro 6830 with a new XL cartridge and I cannot get any black printing. The old cartridge was working (just) when removed. I have only used HP cartridges.

I have run the print head clean several times and not a drop of black ink has appeared.

 

Please let me know if there is a fix for this problem.

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the "Black Not Printing" issue. 

 

To better assist you - 

 

1) Does the black and white copy works? 

2) What's the application you are trying to print from? Have you tried printing from a different application or devices? 

 

While you respond to that, let's print a Print Quality Diagnostic page - 

 

  1. Load plain white paper into the tray.

  2. On the printer control panel, swipe the display to scroll to Setup, and then touch the Setup icon . The Setup menu displays.

  3. Swipe the display to scroll to Reports, and then touch Reports.

  4. Touch Print Quality Report. The printer prints the report.

 

Post the Print Quality Diagnostic page here so we can help you further.

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

In fact I have given up and now have a nice new Officejet Pro 9010, which works fine.

 

I did print a test page and only the colours printed, no black. Not sure about copying. I was printing from Word, Firefox and the printer test pages.

This looks like an issue with the Printhead as replacing the black ink did not fix the issue either. 

 

You may Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your printer.
