This exact same thing happened to me earlier today. The printer went from printing perfectly to not printing in black , despite the cartridges being full (and I replaced them in order to double check). This is very frustrating as I hardly use my printer and now that I need to I cannot. There is no error message. It seems to also be happening to others. There must be a simple explanation for this sudden malfunction.

Please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model?

i soaked in hot water for 10 minutes (after gently wiping off as much of the gunk as possible).  There was a lot of build up.  Then I let dry for 15 minutes.  HP has made it difficult for me to end this discussion...The only way I can appear to do so is to "accept" that mu solution is resolved.  I suppose it is, in that I bought a new printer last night; I need it daily for volunteer work...been without it for over a week!  I truly appreciate the COMMUNITY support.   I will "accept" the solution; though it gives a false notion that this was resolved.  I just refuse to pay $74 PLUS tax and shipping for a printerhead...Maybe I can find someone who is willing to do, but with printers available (and under warranty) for not much more, I doubt it.  Sincere thanks!

Yet another frustrating thing is, to end the discussion (as I bought another printer last night) I have to "accept" that the solution was resolved.  I hardly call buying a new printer, because the cost of a new printhead is ludicris, a solution!  This community is great though, and I appreciate the support!  Sad that a company I have been loyal to for so many years, is going downhill,

I've just had the same thing happen on my HP OfficeJet Pro 6968, used 3 months (but out of warranty by 9 days because it's only used at my summer residence).  Plus, in trying to install multiple new black cartridges (XL), two of them leaked when I pulled the plastic tab, so I'm out another $120 since each costs c. $40.  I'M NOT HAPPY WITH HP!!

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).
