Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Are you able to copy in black?

Follow these steps to make sure that the cartridges are properly vented and seated correctly.

Step one: Make sure that the cartridges are correctly vented

  1. Press the Power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already turned on. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

  2. Open the cartridge access door. The carriage moves to the cartridge access area.

  3. Press the tab on the front of the cartridge inward to release it, and then pull up on the cartridge to remove it from the slot.

  4. Locate the vent area on the top of the cartridge.

  5. With the nozzle and contacts facing down, slide the cartridge into its slot. Press down on the cartridge until it clicks into place.

  6. Repeat these steps to inspect the vents on each of the cartridges.

  7. Close the cartridge access door.

  8. Try the print job again.

  • If these steps resolved the issue, there is no need to continue troubleshooting.

  • If the issue persists, see the next step.

Step two: Make sure that the cartridges are seated correctly

Follow these steps to make sure that the cartridges are seated correctly in their slots on the carriage.

  1. Open the cartridge access door. The carriage moves to the cartridge access area. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before you continue.

Figure : Open the cartridge access door

  2. Make sure that each cartridge is installed in the correct slot. Match the shape of the icon and the color of the cartridge with the slot that has the same shaped icon and color.

Figure : Match the corresponding icon and color on all cartridges with the slots

Image: Match the corresponding icon and color on all cartridges with the slots.
  3. Make sure that each cartridge is firmly in place in its slot. Run your finger along the top of the cartridges to feel for any that are protruding, and if any are, press down firmly until each cartridge snaps into place.

  4. Close the cartridge access door.

  5. Try the print job again.

Do you have any other black ink cartridge to check with? This could be a case of a faulty ink cartridge too.

If the issue persists, please perform the remaining steps from this document: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-deskjet-3070a-e-all-in-one-printer-series-b611/4311847/model...
