Black ink not working.

HP5520 Photosmart Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Recently I changed the black ink cartridge with a genuine replacement because the old one was empty. The new cartridge does not work. I changed it with another genuine cartridge and that does not work. (The printer was working without problem before the cartridge ran dry). I have tried the diagnostic help on the printer and cleaned the print heads twice with no effect. Any ideas please??
