Black ink stopped printing on my Office Jet 3833

Hi ...  I was printing a document that was 6 pages long. The first 2 pages printed ok in black but page 3 started ok & then got worse by the bottom of the page & pages 4 & 5 were real bad & then page 6 printed ok but was in color even though all 6 pages were in black. I did not get an error message or a low ink message. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I need to do to correct this issue? Thanks

@dom1956, Welcome to HP Support Community!

 

I'd recommend you follow the steps from the document Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues to isolate and resolve the issue.

 

Also, Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

I did check the ink levels & both color & B&W were still showing around 1/4 left & I did not get any low ink warnings but I went ahead & installed a new B&W cartridge & the printer is now printing fine again. Thanks
