Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I just set up my HP officejet 3830 printer and successfully connected to my HP laptop.  I follow all the instructions and things have been printing just fine until I tried to print a picture and it came out black and white.  I tried a document and change some text color and it still came out black and white.  however, when I printed from the printer color printed just fine so it seems to be when I send it from my computer.  I saw some comments of this being a problem and to uninstall and reinstall, but that was for people who had it working for awhile and then it stopped.  I just installed and set up everything today.  The settings it tells you to check are not available.  Even in advanced under the printer preference there is not greyscale, black and white, or color option anywhere. Was loving this printer, but very frustrated that right off the bat i'm already having problems that i've been working on figuring out for the past hour.

I have sense reset the printer back to factory default and started over.  It is now printing from color if I print from my phone or email the print job from my computer.  BUT if i print directly from my computer it still comes out black and white!! I just bought this printer HELP

Lastly, Uninstall the printer software from the root level and install the full feature printer software.

Try uninstalling the full feature printer software from root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software.

In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.

Select your HP printer.

Select Uninstall.

In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.

In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”

Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.

Type printui.exe /s and click OK.

Click on Drivers tab.

Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.

Select OK.

Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties window.

Close Devices and Printers.

@CGA2

Welcome to HP support community.

Did you make a copy and check if that prints in color?

Provide the printer model number or the product number?

If you are using this printer on a Windows 10 computer and reinstall the drivers already, follow the below steps:

Update the printer firmware

Refer the steps mentioned in this HP document:- Click here

Once you install the printer, change the bellow settings to print in color.

  1. Open Devices and Printers by clicking the Start button , and then, on the Start menu, clicking Devices and Printers.
  2. Right-click the printer that you want to use, and then click Printing preferences.
  3. Make your choices, and then click OK.
  4. Under option Print color select color , then the OK button.

Let me know how it goes.
