So has there been a resolution to this problem?  I am trying to print again and the printer screen tells me it is out of paper. So once again I just sit here hitting OK on the printer until it prints. You are right, it is junk. This is our second HP. I said I wouldn't buy another one after the first printer. Won't make that mistake again. And I don't know how to screen shot the printer screen.

Well i never got it resolved.

Thanks. I kinda figured as much. I shouldn't have bought a second HP. Learned my lesson.

So. The 5540 doesn't seem to have the grunt to pick up the small photo paper so after much trial I decided to try cut up bits of paper (rather than glossy paper) and to my horror - it worked first time.

I'm now off to replace my expensive HP photo paper with some cheap thin stuff to see if that works!

How disappointing

Hi, thanks for that - I will try with a different paper and see if it resolves my issue. Will update with results.

FINALLY, after several hours of researches I found the solution, at least it worked for me.

When you chose the paper size for the photo tray, DO NOT chose the size 4" x 6" ,  instead chose the one 10 x 15 cm/4'x6' (if you scroll you will be able to find it in drop down menu).

These 2 options are same, but some how printer programmed to pick up the paper only when you chose the one with cm.

Hope this will help.

I'm having print-to-glossy-photo-tray issues as well. My paper size list doesn't include any photo sizes, like 10cmx15cm/4"x6". This is even after I've loaded 4x6 photo paper into the proper tray and the printer gives me the confirmation that it's loaded, after I've chosen the photo paper tray, with HP's own drivers installed etc.

I can choose the Photos tray, but not the photos size, and so the settings can't get set correctly. Therefore the print settings dialogues will give "settings conflict" errors (in Printer Properties), or try to print on regular paper in a different tray.

I'm stuck. 😞
