Can't set up for Duplex Printing - Greeting Factory Deluxe - Version 8

Product Name: HP Officejet Pro 8610
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

When I initially try to set up the printer to print 2-sided greeting cards (loaded from the bottom tray), the instuctions say that 2 pages will be printed - one with a O and another with an X.  I am to note which one prints first.  The O will print and then all the printer does is lock up and spin.  I am unable to get past this point and each time have to shut the program down.  I have tried to find a way to bypass the setup and print the front and back of the card manually but have not been able to find a way.

I had no trouble printing the cards with my Canon printer that I no longer have.  Greeting Card Factory does not support the program anymore.  Please help me.

We cannot offer support for third party software -- I am sorry the software is no longer supported by the vendor (from whom you purchased the product).

Assuming the printer is working as expected outside of the Card software...

In general, IF the test pages (with X and 0) you are supposed to print are to be printed on the same (thicker) paper as will be the card on which the decorative images and text will be added, then your Printing Preferences must be set / adjusted to accept that Media type (kind of paper).

Printing Preferences can (normally) be set / adjusted from within the program you are using to submit the job to the printer.

You can also "get to" the Printing Preferences through Devices and Printers:

Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers >

Right-Click on your printer > Printing Preferences

Set / Adjust / Verify for:

Media (kind of paper):  Select Card, Brochure, or similar depending on your printer software

Source:  Select the Tray (do not leave as "Any" or "Automatic" -- wording varies)

Size:  Size of your paper (when opened flat)

Check other options, too, in Advanced and for Duplex... check everything to ensure the Preferences settings are as expected.

If No Joy - Rats - Nothing works...

If all else fails and you really, really want to create a card using images from within the card software, try / consider a workaround.

Open the Greeting card software, bring up a view of the image(s) you want to use on your card(s):

Click and save the image to your computer (if possible)

OR

Create a Snip of the information on the page > save the snipped image(s) as .jpg

OR

If you have your own images / photos, plan to use those in your custom card(s)

Use free Avery Software > Select from the available card templates > create a card >

add your saved Images as desired > save and Print

Dear Dragon-Fur,

This time I set the printer properties on 2-sided printing and the set-up dialogue didn't appear.  To my joy the card printed!  I did look at all the settings as you suggested and made this one change.  You are an absolute gem and I am smiling a grand smile.

Thank-you!
