Trying to print in color on windows 10 (ms word, pdf) on hp dj3830 via wifi but print is black & white only. Printing via USB is ok, diagnotic is ok, printing from other devices (tested MacBook Air, iPhone SE) is in color via wifi. Printer setting when using USB shows selection B/W and color, but in Printer setting for Wifi/Network is no option to select color or b/w.
Latest drivers from 123.hp.com.
Any help? Thanks

I reviewed your post and understand that you are having issues printing in color from one computer wirelessly.
I'll be glad to help you 🙂
In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.
- When was the last time the printer was working fine?
- Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
Meanwhile, I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Restart the PC
14.) Download and install the printer software from the below link.
15.) Connect the USB cable ONLY when prompted and follow the on screen instructions.

thank you for a replay,
the problem with b/w printing only on HP DJ 3830 via wifi is from the first time I installed software on windows 10.
I tested printing via WIFI on 3 different machines with windows 10 - all prints in b/w only. When I print when connected via USB, everything works fine - Printer Options shows b/w or color printing radio buttons and documents are printed in color. I even already tried to your suggestion to reinstall (I saw instructions in similar posts) only that I downloaded sw from official 123.hp.com/dj3830.
What is link hp.care/2nikIQ9? It does not seem to be official HP site?

Fossette's approach does not help. I have a new laptop (notebook) with Windows 64-bit, version 1903 and normal first instalation (basically same as Fossette describes) really doesn't work (for wireless printer). The color is not printed from the first time. I applied his approach (uninstallation and new installation) then and this changed nothing.
Repeating the situation from the first user: Printing in color through USB connection is working - there is the option to switch between greyscale and color.
I am not sure if the new drivers or software is different but I have also the notebook with Windows 7 and there is not such problem.
I didn't see any solution for this!

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the printing issue.
Please try step# 1 to 13 to uninstall the printer driver as listed here.
Try adding the printer using the IP address -
1. Select “Start” and type “printers” in the search box.
2. Choose “Printers & scanners“.
3. Select “Add a printer or scanner“.
4. Wait for the “The printer that I want isn’t listed” option to appear, then select it.
5. Select “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname” , then select “Next“.
6. Select “TCP/IP Device” in the “Device type” list.
7. Type the hostname or the IP address of the printer. Select “Next“. To find the IP address of the printer, touch the Wi-Fi icon on the printer's control panel.
8. Windows should find the printer if the printer is on and configured correctly. You may have to specify more information. If prompted, Select the type of network adapter installed in the printer in the “Device Type” drop-down list. You can also click “Custom” to specify custom settings for the network printer. Select “Next“.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
Click the “Kudos, Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

thank you for your effort. However even this approach did not help.
See the image attached. Still there is no setting about color/greyscale.
It looks like HP doesn't have a solution for this problem or maybe most of the users of HP3835 better buy new printer than facing this type of problem. I am writing this because I haven't seen any working solution of this problem through the internet.
Don't you know if older version of the printer software has not this bug? Is there any older working version for Win 10, 64-bit?
