Carriage stuck to right

photosmart 6525
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan
The printer cartridge carriage is stuck to the right. I replaced a cartridge and it's been stuck ever since. The error message states One or more Cartridges appear to be missing or damaged. Install or replace affect cartridge. But the carriage won't move.

Carriage stuck to right

Hi @tbl1

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

This seems like a hardware issue with the print carriage. Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Check for obstructions in the carriage path

Perform step 1 from this document.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
