Deskjet 3521

I keep getting a "clear carriage jam" error on the screen of my Deskjet 3521 printer.

I had not used my printer for at least 3 - 4 years, so I purchased new ink cartridges and the black ink was not working. I did the cleaner option on the printer a few times and that didn't work, so I took out the part of the carriage that holds the ink and cleaned it with water. Since I've reconnected everything (after letting it dry out), I've been getting this message.

I've looked up a few different articles and videos to try and fix the issue on my own, but nothing seems to be working. No paper or items blocking anything. The carriage seems to move fine from side to side. Only thing I do see that could be causing the issue is it does seem like the "grease" that coats the bar the carriage moves back and forth on seems to have been rubbed off in a few spots.

Any ideas on what could be causing the issue, and how I can fix this?

Thank you in advance for any and all help!
