Product: HP Envy 7640
I need more USB ports than I have on my laptop so I got a USB hub, but when I connect my printer through the hub it isn't recognised by the laptop. It works fine if connected directly. Would a powered hub be any better?

Please connect it DIRECTLY to your computer. It won't work when connect to USB hub. If you wish to share printer with other computer(s), please use network setup OR use one computer as a print server.

Sadly, that still leaves me short of USB ports.  Is there no hub or splitter that will allow the printer to work and also allow something else to be plugged in?
