HP Officejet Pro 8600 All in One N911a
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

The control panel screen on my HP Offcejet Pro Printer has turned milky white making it almost impossible to see

the contents on the display screen. I have seen this issue before with HP Printers but I do not know how it was

resolved, anyone have any idea's?  Not looking forward to having to buy another printer when this one works fine,

just have to use my desktop to set it up and it takes too much time.  Thanks for any help you can give, Judy

@Chinamom

Thank you for joining the HP Support Community.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Are you facing this issue after an update?

Was there any power surge?

I suggest you do a Hard Reset

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Update the firmware for the printer using this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-pro-8600-e-all-in-one-printer-series-n911/4322914/...

Restart the printer.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

Hi Raj1788,

Thanks for your help, but unfortunately, I tried the hard reset before, but I tried it again, still nothing.  I also tried

the firmware download, No to that also.  But there is a Yes and that is to the question of when this happened and that

i right after the lst download, not the one I usedto try and fix this but the one I was told it needed to be updated with.

I have been looking for at least a month, maybe more to fix this, I have lost track of time since this is not my only

HP printer.  I do a lot of photo crafts for family & friends so I use my printers a lot.

It is a good printer and still works fine with the exception of the control panel display, there must be some way to fix

it.  Thanks again for your help, I will keep looking on line for a fix for my HP officejet Pro 8600 N911a.

Let's perform a semi-full reset on the printer.

I have sent you a private message, to reset the printer that cannot be shared in a public post.

Can you please check your inbox on the forums page for the private message.

Have a great day!
