Copying 4x6 photo on Envy 7855 yields a 4x6 copy with 2 white borders

HP Envy Photo 7855
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently tried to copy a 4x6 photo on an HP Envy Photo 7855 printer.   What I got was a 4x6 copy with a white border on two sides, In this case on the top and right edge.   Sample below:

House.jpgNote white borders on top and right edge

I spent 3 hours on the phone with support, trying a number of things including factory & partial resets but the result was always the same.   The tech suggested replacing the printer, but before going through that hassle, I am wondering if anybody else has experienced this.   It feels more like a F/W issue, such as incorrect calculation of the image position.  BTW, the printer F/W is the latest: PALSUPPPXN003.1829A.00 and it is connected to the home network via Ethernet.

This is how I made the copy:

  1. Make sure you have 4x6 photo paper in the photo tray.
  2. Tap the "Copy"  icon on the printer home screen.
  3. Tap the "Photo" icon on the document type selection screen, and follow the on screen instructions.

Note that scanning the photo to my PC and then printing it via the PC works just fine, as does printing photos from mobile devices (both Android or iOS) connected via WiFi to the home network.   This is the only printer function that I have tried that does not work as expected.

I'm having a similar problem, printing 4X6 photo on Envy 7855 yields a 3 1/2 X 5 photo on 4X6 photo paper. How do I get the photo to fill up the entire 4X6 photo paper?

@BridgeB, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I understand you have issues printing on the 4x6 photo paper. To assist you better, I would like to know the following-

What is the Operating System installed on your computer?

Which application are you trying to print from?

Does the print preview look fine?

Would you want to print borderless on the 4x6 photo paper?

Have you tried making a copy on the 4x6, does that look good?

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Copying 4x6 photo on Envy 7855 yields a 4x6 copy with 2 white borders

The original question which is over a year old describes copying a photo using the printer copy function.  It has nothing to do withe the OS or Sw I am using on my PC.   Just to check I tested this again.   I put a 4x6 photo on the scanner flat bed, selected Copy then Photo on the screen.  I got a 4x6 photo withat white borders on two sides as indicated in the original photo.

While you are trying to make a copy, go to copy settings > resize > fit to page

Now, try making a copy.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Copying 4x6 photo on Envy 7855 yields a 4x6 copy with 2 white borders

Problem: Envy 7855 printer will not print 4x6 photos from my HP Envy x360 laptop computer.

Operating system: Windows 10

Application I'm printing photo from:  Hmm, I don't know how to identity this.,,

Preview for printing a 4x6 photo doesn't show the photo at all. But the 5x7 photo preview will show, so I can print that size.

@BridgeB

Thanks for replying!

Refer to the document HP Printers - How to Print Photos (Windows) for help.

Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. For more information, go to Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.

Also, I recommend you delete the driver and root level and retry, follow the steps below:

1) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2) Select your HP Printer

3) Select Uninstall

4) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’

6) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.

7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe”

😎 Click on the “Drivers” tab

9) Look for the HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10) Select Ok

11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12) Close Devices and Printers.

Now, download and install the full-featured software from here.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
