HP Deskjet 460
Microsoft Windows XP

Text documents, and pdf image printouts have long random color and black bars but no readable information.  In both Linux and Windows attempts to print a test page also output only  long random black and color bars across the page.  It looks like a driver issue but running the best HP driver software in XP in a virtual machine doesn’t improve the output.  HPLIP in Ubuntu Linux gives similar results.  In Windows 10 there is no driver listed for this model, even after a Windows update.

The user manual says some Asian models of this printer might produce garbled print with Asian fonts, but I believe the standard English fonts I am using and the test page should not produce this problem.  Cannot find more information online to determine if this is an Asian model or what the problem might be.

On the New Zealand HP site the HP 110 tri-color inkjet print cartridge is said to be the one for this printer, but other sites suggest the HP 97, which I am using.  Could not find the cartridge number on the US HP site.

@Aurosutru, Welcome to HP Support Community!

Going through your post, I see that the printer is experiencing print quality issues. Irrespective of models, I'd recommend you follow the steps from the document Streaks or Lines in the Printed Image. If the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Hope this helps!
