Cracking sound as my Hp Photosmart 4680 initializes to pick up a paper for printing.

Hp Photosmart 4680 3 in 1 Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

As soon as I switch on the printer, during the initialization process, a cracking sound is usually being heard between the plastic gears making it difficult to pick up a paper for printing until I personally guide the paper into the printer before it is picked and starts printing. What maintenance can I give to the printer to eliminate the cracking sound of the printer.

Hi @Radevic

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Clean the paper pick rollers as mentioned in this document.

Make sure there are no jams inside the printer. You may follow the steps from this document.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
