Depleted cartridges?

HP OfficeJet Pro 8710
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Ran out of ink so I installed two new (non-HP) cartridges (cyan & yellow, 952XL), as I have done several times before.  The printer did not like the cartridges so I tried two brand new HP cartridge (952).  After initially displaying that there was ink in the cartridges,  when I went to print, the printer said that both cartridges were depleted and won't let me print.

Depleted cartridges?

Try a power-on reset.

With the printer on, remove the power cord, wait 2 min, then reconnect power.
