DeskJet Ink Advantage Ultra 4729 is not letting me print in colour in Autocad 2013

Hi,

 

While i am able to print in colour with MS office applications, my autocad 2013 LT does not let me print in colour.

After some researhing i found out that the vector graphics properties are greyed out and set to print in shades of grey.

I am unable to change it. (See screen short)HP4729.png

I was previously able to print in colour with this printer and agter win10 clean install and latest drivers for the printer this issue has come up.

 

Where i can download old drivers to try to fix this issue.

My current driver version is DJ4720_Full_WebPack_40.11.1124 / Win 10 1803

 

Also any other suggestions

Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I understand you are having issues while printing from your HP DeskJet Printer. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.

 

Let's start off by performing a Hard reset on the printer. 

 

Please make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

 

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

 

Let's perform a clean install to try and fix this issue. Here are the steps:

 

First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.

Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Deskjet printer entries and uninstall them.

Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.

Restart your computer.

Click the bottom-left Start button on desktop, type device manager in the search box and tap Device Manager on the menu.

Once in device manager, click on the view tab in the top & choose “Show hidden devices”.

Then from the device manager list, check the entries under “Printer”  – If there are any entries, please right click and choose “uninstall” – In the confirm device un-install pop-up, make sure you select the box which says “Delete the driver software for this device".

Also, check the entries under "printer queue" and "imaging devices" and repeat the same exercise. Delete any printer entry or any entry which says “Unknown device”.

Once done, close device-manger. Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (there is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.

Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.

Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

Open run again, type “%temp%” and press enter to get the temporary files. Delete all the files here. Skip the items which cannot be deleted.

Now restart your computer again.

Open the Run window again, type “services.msc” and press ok to get services window.

Scroll down to “Remote Procedure Call (RPC)” – right-click and go to properties. Make sure the service is started and startup type is “Automatic”.

Now scroll up and go to “Function Discovery Provider Host” – right-click and select properties – Change the startup type to “manual” and start the service.

Repeat the same exercise on “Function Discovery Resource Publication” as well.

Click on https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL63216/al-152104-1/DJ4720_Full_WebPack_40.11.1124.exe  and install the software.

Connect the USB cable only when prompted.

 

If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to Uninstall the printer drivers and then try installing the Windows built-in drivers for the printer.

Simply turn on the printer and connect the USB cable from the printer to the PC. The drivers will be installed in 2-3 minutes. Go to Control panel - Devices and printers to check the printer entry and make it as default printer if needed.

Hi,

 

i did follow your instructions, however still no luck with the issue.
I installed another HP printer - HP Office jet 7000 , this does not have any issues. (Screen short attached)

So the issue with mu computer and ACAD software can be ruled out.

Also  installed HP DeskJet Ink Advantage Ultra 4729 on ly laptio, and it also has the same issue.

 

When i use windows to detect and install the printer, it does not complete the driver installation and shows the following error, saying the drivers are unsigned

Looks like this is a Driver issue with HP or Windows

Is there a way to force update the firmware

Let's try installing an alternate driver and check if that helps

 

The print driver for HP Deskjet 5550 or HP Deskjet 990c works as an alternative driver that is compatible with many types of HP printers.

 

  1. Make sure that the USB cable is not connected to the printer. If the USB cable is connected to the printer, disconnect it.

  2. Make sure the computer is connected to the Internet.

  3. Right-click the Start button () in the lower left corner of the screen, click Search, and then type Devices and Printers.

  4. Click Devices and Printers.

  5. Click Add a printer. The Add Printer window opens.

  6. Click The printer that I want isn't listed.

  7. Select Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings, and then click Next.

  8. Select Use an existing port, and then click the Use an existing port drop-down list, select LPT1: (Printer Port). Click Next.

  9. Click the Windows Update button to see the HP Deskjet 5550 print driver. This might take a few minutes.

  10. Under Manufacturer in the Install the printer driver window, click HP.

  11. Under Printers, select HP Deskjet 5550 as the alternate driver for your printer, and then click Next.

  12. In the Printer name text box, the printer's name displays. Click Next. The print driver starts the installation process. When the installation is complete, a message displays on the computer stating that the printer was added successfully.

  13. Click the box to Set as the default printer, and then click Finish.

  14. Connect the USB cable to the printer, and connect the USB cable to the computer. A Device driver software was not successfully installedwindow opens.

  15. Click Close to close the window.

Next Configure the installed driver by changing the port from parallel to a DOT4 port.

 

  1. In the Devices and Printers window, right-click the name of the printer and then click Printer Properties.

    The Printer Properties window opens.

  2. Click the Ports tab.

  3. Click the drop down menu, and then change the port from LPT1 to USB or DOT4. If there is more than one USB/DOT4 port available, select the USB/DOT4 port with the highest port number.

       NOTE: To see the full port name, widen the ports row in the Properties dialog box by placing the cursor over the vertical line between Port and Description, and then click and hold the mouse button. Move the mouse to the right until the port name is visible.

  4. Click OK.

Hi,

No luck with this as well.

Windows did not find the 5550 printer, though it had 5500 series, which i used, but it did not work.

Thanks for the update,

As I see you have exhausted all possible troubleshooting steps and unfortunately nothing has helped to resolve this issue. In this scenario, I would suggest you try to create a new User account and then check.

 

Let's uninstall the printer software first and then restart the computer. 

 

Try to create a new local user and then try to install the printer. Follow the steps here to create a local account on your PC: http://bit.ly/2uu1UNm  Now, login to the new account and then try to install the printer and check.

Hi Jeet,

Like i had mentioned earlier, i also tried installing this printer in a fresh laptop with latest windows 10 version, it has the same issues. So making a new profile and installing the printer is not going to work.

 

It looks like the driver developer team at HP needs to recreate this issue and see if they can issue a patch / revised drivers.

 

As a work around, i am printing to PDF and then printing from there, which is not a desirable solution as the scale of the drawing is as not accurate as it would be from priniting directly from autocad

As I see that you found a work around and this seems to be working. This definitely looks like a possible software conflict.

 

I would recommend you perform a Microsoft push button reset on the PC and then check how it goes.

 

Windows 10 has a reset feature that repairs your computer by reinstalling the operating system. This can be done either while preserving your personal data and customizations, or removing all your personal data.
